Open Eyes and Open Hearts this Month
Happy Christmas season my beautiful friends! I hope you all are having the most wonderful and fulfilling holiday season. Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year. Its cold, you can smell the snow brewing, and once finals are all finished, people are generally more giving and caring towards others. For me, this December has been a little bit different. Normally I don't think to reach out beyond my tiny sphere of influence, namely my wonderful friends and family who deserve the world. This year however, I was scrolling on Facebook, way past my bedtime, when I saw two of my friends post about a campaign aimed at ending modern slavery that exists all around the world, including the United States. This is not something that I thought too much about. I mean, when you think of slavery, you think of chains and whips and the absolutely terrible conditions African Americans suffered through before the Civil War.
